Q21. Can persistent pesticides be relatively harmless to the environment? Why?

A21. Yes. Persistence is not always bad for the environment, although there have been cases when it was. Long lasting or persistent pesticides are important for long-term protection of structures from termites, for example. There are persistent pesticides that stay on target, control specific pests and cause no adverse environmental impact.
