Q19. Disposal of pesticide waste can indirectly lead to contamination of drinking water supplies. Explain the ways this might happen.



A19. Slow leaking of containers can mean that pesticides can leach through the soil into groundwater. When an overdose of pesticide application occurs, rain may carry pesticides through the soil to the groundwater. Dumping containers into surface waters means groundwater will eventually receive this flow.
