Pesticide Use

The following tables and figures depict the pesticide use reported by carrot growers in 1996. Growers reported using 13 different active ingredients on their carrot acreage-three fungicides, four insecticides, five herbicides, and one nematicide. Figure 1 illustrates a graphical comparison of the relative amounts applied for each active ingredient.

Bar Chart Comparison of Active Ingredients Table 5 shows the total amount applied, average per acre, number of applications, and acreage for each reported active ingredient. Throughout this report, averages were computed using mean values. The number of applications is the sum made by the eleven respondents.
