Dear Ms. Cool:
Re: Section 18 Emergency Exemption for Use of Chlorothalonil
(Bravo 720; EPA Reg. No. 50534-188) on Blueberries at Four
Specific Sites in New York for the Control of Anthracnose
in 1994.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as the
State lead agency for pesticide matters, hereby requests consideration
of the subject matter for emergency exemption under Section 18 of FIFRA,
as amended. Enclosed is the request which includes the information
required in 40 CFR Part 166.20.
This is the first year that a Section 18 emergency exemption is
being requested for use of Chlorothalonil (Bravo 720) on blueberries in
New York State. ISK Biotech continues to work with IR-4 to obtain a
tolerance for chlorothalonil on blue-berries. The EPA must issue the
tolerance before ISK Biotech can add blueberries to the Bravo 720
Section 3 label. IR-4 submitted a petition for tolerance in July 1990.
ISK Biotech fully supports expedited review of the pending IR-4 petition
and has met with the EPA as recently as January 1994 concerning this
issue.
Your prompt attention to this matter is appreciated so that the
necessary material may be available to the four specific farms as soon
as possible.
Please contact Jeanine Broughel, of my staff, at (518) 457-7446 if
you have any questions concerning this request.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Norman H. Nosenchuck, P.E.
