The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hereby amends the specific
exemption issued under the provisions of section 18 of the Federal
Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, as amended, to the New York
State Department of Environmental Conservation for the use of
desmedipham on Red Beets.  The amendments are as follows to statement of
the original section 18, Item (2), which is now amended to read:

2.  A maximum of three ground broadcast or band applications per season
is requested.  The first application at 0.25 lb ai/A will occur when the
beets have 2 leaves, followed by 0.25 to 0.38 and 0.25 to 0.50 lb ai/A
at the 4- and -6 leaf stages, respectively, on 2,000 acres in Genesee,
Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties in New
York.  A 75 day Preharvest Interval (PHI) will be followed.

All other conditions and restrictions in the original authorizing
correspondence (section 18) remain the same.
