dicofol The USEPA has revoked the food additive tolerance for residues
(Kelthane) of dicofol in or on DRIED TEA as of 5/9/94. This action is
being taken because the USEPA has determined that this food
additive regulation is inconsistent with the Delaney Clause in
Section 409 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
(FFDCA). The USEPA has classified dicofol as a possible human
carcinogen. Requests for a hearing, objections to this action,
or petitions for a stay of this action must be received by the
EPA Hearing Clerk and Public Response Branch with the code OPP-
300238A by 4/8/94. Dicofol is not registered for use on tea in
the U.S. However, because of its use to control mites in
growing tea outside the U.S., a tolerance has been required for
imported tea.
