                 2.  USE PATTERNS AND FORMULATIONS

- Application sites:  Indoor use only on dogs and cats and their
  bedding.
- Types of formulations:  Liquid
- Types and methods of application:  Pump spray


                      3.  SCIENCE FINDINGS

Chemical Characteristics

- A colorless liquid with a fresh floral woody odor.
- Boiling point 379 degrees F.
- Molecular weight 154.24.
- Specific gravity 0.863.
- Practically insoluble in water.
- Miscible with alcohol and ether.


Toxicological Characteristics

- Acute oral toxicity:  4.9 and 4.13 mg/kg for male and female
  rats, respectively.
  - Acute dermal toxicity:  2 g/kg for albino rabbits.
  - Acute inhalation toxicity:  LC50 less than 2.95 mg/l
  - Not a sensitizer.
  - No subacute or chronic studies are required, since linalool is
    generally recognized as safe under 21 CFR 182.60 (synthetic
    flavoring substances and adjuvants).


Environmental Characteristics

- None reported.  No data required to support the manufacturing-use or 
  indoor end-use product.


Ecological Characteristics

- Slightly toxic to rainbow trout and bluegill:  28.8 and 36.8 ppm,
  respectively.
- Slightly toxic to aquatic invertebrates:  36.7 ppm.
- Practically nontoxic to birds:  LC50 greater than 5,620 ppm in
  bobwhite quail.

- Use classification:  Unrestricted.
- Formulation or labeling restrictions:  Indoor use only.
