The intent of this network is to inform interested parties of recent or
impending pesticide use cancellations, tolerance revocations, and other items
of agricultural interest. To the best of our knowledge, the uses mentioned
here, unless otherwise indicated, will not appear on any label registered by
the USEPA after those uses are canceled. We recommend that you express any
concerns or questions you have to the contact mentioned below or to your
NAPIAP State Liaison Representative. If you wish to contact us at USDA, our
phone number is (301) 504-8846, and our fax number is (301) 504-8063.
lindane The USEPA has proposed to not initiate a Special Review on the
insecticide, lindane. The USEPA notified registrants of the
possibility of a new Special Review on lindane in 1985 based on a
study which showed irreversible kidney effects in male rats. They
have determined that the kidney effects observed are specific to
male rats and are not relevant to humans. This is not an
indication that lindane has been cleared for reregistration; its
usage is likely to be sharply curtailed once its reregistration
review is complete. Written comments on this notice with reference
to OPP-30000/10H should be sent to the Public Response Branch of
EPA by 5/17/94.
